What's On 16 Feb

Dear Reader,
This week, we’ve been wrangling with how to cut down our carbon footprint to align with a net zero world. Our team undertook a day of training with the excellent Positive Planet, and it struck me that education and collaboration are key to everything. I knew this of course, but you actually have to put it into practice sometimes. Our session started with everyone writing words like ‘doomed’, ‘frightened’, ‘overwhelmed’, ‘helpless’, onto the board. By the end of the day, these terms were usurped by ‘optimistic’, ‘inspired’, ‘excited’; how joyful is that? Turning those feelings into actions that have impact is our next step – going beyond what we already do as a B Corp business. Ideas are flying and there’s a genuine carbon bonhomie in the air. In the face of Trump advocating for bringing back plastic straws, you have to put your energy and focus where you can. And that’s with those around you. Onwards!
Have a great week.

Cutting back on meat and dairy is one of the most significant things you can do – and with the news that Plates is the first vegan restaurant to have been awarded a Michelin star in the UK, it doesn’t mean compromising on deliciousness either.
