Watch Louis Theroux: Inside The Manosphere

‘Do you consider yourself a misogynist?,’ asks Louis Theroux in his latest documentary Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere. The ultra-masculine influencer (or so he brands himself) being questioned thinks not: ‘I love women and I actually understand them [...] They want a guy that can dominate them and lead them.’ It’s enough to make you want to switch off the TV… but like much of Theroux’s work this eye-opening and important watch is about more than sparking rage. The 90-minute interrogation takes us into the manosphere – an online community based around an extreme, anti-feminist narrative which promotes wealth, physical appearance and power over women as key markers of manhood. As well as interviewing influencers fuelling the movement across Miami and Marbella, and hearing the perspectives of the women in their lives, Theroux explores the role social media platforms play in the growing subculture. It’s out today, a year after Netflix’s three-part series Adolescence (which deals with similar themes), and promises to be just as impactful. Watch on Netflix
