Staying In
Try The Glitch App
Ever thought that plain patch of grass down the road would look better with a cherry blossom in its place? This new app from PLAY founder Kalpana Arias helps you populate your local area with plants – all from the comfort of your phone. Supported by the National Trust, Glitch uses AI, AR, and local biodiversity data to map green gaps, find community gardens, log wildlife, discover local projects, learn practical nature skills, interact with fellow enthusiasts, and plant virtual trees. At its heart is Glitch, a ‘part bot, part bug’ that can answer all your nature-related questions and get you stuck in with local community initiatives. Designed to turn online play into real-world action, Kalpana explains that ‘when someone plants a cyber tree through augmented reality, it is not only a digital tree. It also creates a location marker showing where someone would like to see more nature [...] We can then work with organisations such as the National Trust, community groups and ecologists to assess sites and develop planting plans.’ Find out more about Glitch here, or test it out for yourself at glitch.mu

Property Of The Day
One of the rarest surviving houses of the Arts and Crafts Movement, this country home was designed by the architect and ceramicist Alfred Powell. Available for the third time since it was built in 1899, this Grade II listed property also showcases the work of Ernest Gimson – whom architectural historian Sir Nikolaus Pevsner once described as ‘the greatest of the English architect-designers’.

Little Luxury
Lebanese light bites are our little luxury today, best enjoyed at Ishbilia's gorgeous summer terrace. The Belgravia institution, just round the corner from Harrods, has reopened this season after a refurbishment, and the sharing mezze is perfect for group visits: think moutabal, sambousek, labneh and al rahib. Order a pomegranate margarita for a bit of pizzaz. ishbilia.com

Psssst…
This October the National Gallery is launching a big Renoir exhibition – but in the run-up, visitors are invited to a sneak preview. For a limited period, both Renoir and Monet’s La Grenouillère works will be displayed side by side at the gallery for the first time in 19 years. Painted by the two artists and friends from almost the same viewpoint in the summer of 1869, the pieces capture a pivotal moment in the birth of Impressionism. You have until mid-September to check out this rare sighting. nationalgallery.org.uk
Whatever You Do, Don’t
Rely on SPF in your foundation to protect your skin from the sun. ‘A lot of people believe that it’s enough to have SPF in their foundation, but really you need to be applying SPF before your foundation as the last step in your skincare routine for maximum protection,’ facialist Cecilia Ross tells us.
