Staying In
Read Time Travel For Beginners
On a bustling road in Sydney lies a nondescript storefront known as the Time Travel Agency. The guidelines are simple: you can go whenever you wish into the past, and there’s no fear of altering the present. This is the premise behind Australian author Jaclyn Moriarty’s latest novel: Time Travel For Beginners. Attracting those who need it most, Anna finds herself taking a position at the agency after a car crash convinces her to quit her job. Teddy’s wife has left him for his brother, and an advert promising journeys through the past tempts him to find out what went wrong. Meanwhile Jade’s been gifted a creative membership in a room above the store – an escape from her increasingly bad-tempered daughter and a buried secret. As they converge around the agency, it offers them the chance to dip back in time: take tea with Jane Austen, scream at the Beatles, and watch the Olympics (in Ancient Greece). But it also allows them to revisit their pasts and face the choices that shaped them, and those they love. Out today, uk.bookshop.org

Book Tickets To Cocktails in the City
London’s favourite cocktail festival returns this August with two weekends of fun in a private Georgian garden (the first took place in July, but there's still time to secure tickets for the second). Get involved with tastings from some of the city’s top bars, play petanque, mix up your own tipples (with the help of the experts), dance at a silent disco and listen to live music – plus don’t miss the food village offering dumplings, tacos and more. Be sure to check out the Tasting Rooms Experience too: think speed dating meets drinks masterclass, with three ten-minute tastings hosted by three independent producers (£10pp). 6 – 8 August 2026, cocktailsinthecity.com
