Staying In
Watch The New David Attenborough Documentary
There are few broadcasters who have made as much of a positive impact than David Attenborough. A true British national treasure, he’s turning 100 on 8 May 2026 and the BBC is marking the occasion by giving us a bumper week of Attenborough content – including a new documentary. Now streaming on BBC iPlayer is Secret Garden, a five-part series which explores the surprising animals inhabiting our backyards – from dormice in South Wales and otters in Oxfordshire to blue tits in Bristol and pine martens in the Western Highlands. ‘Theirs is no cosy existence – even in these beautiful and seemingly genteel surroundings the rules of the wild still operate,’ reads the synopsis. By speaking to the gardeners behind these wild spaces, the show also highlights how we can help save struggling species. Eighty percent of Brits have access to a garden, and how we manage them affects whole wildlife populations – so together, we can make a big impact. Watch on BBC iPlayer.

Visit One Of London’s Best Hotel Bakeries
Back in the day, bars were the heart of fancy hotels. But in 2026 there’s much more hype around hotel bakeries, particularly in London where many of the five-stars are luring in guests with celebrity pastry chefs and ultra-luxe patisserie. World-famous baker Cedric Grolet is showcasing his culinary art at The Berkeley, serving up his signature ‘trompe l’œil’ creations: desserts that look like whole fruits but are actually complex pastries. At The Savoy’s Scoff it’s all about scones, which are filled and topped with unique flavours, like strawberries and cream, pina colada, tiramisu and exotic fruit punch. Claridge’s Bakery opened at the start of 2026 with the prestigious Richard Hart at the helm, focusing on nostalgic British baked goods like jammie dodger tarts, French fancies, Belgian buns and iced fingers. And At The Connaught’s rose-hued bakery, Nicolas Rouzaud and his team offer an exquisite selection of baked goods inspired by the changing seasons (but be aware an eat-in dessert will set you back a cool £17). Which takes your fancy?
Property Of The Day
A clifftop estate with its very own private beach, this Devon home is straight out of a storybook. Though unproven, rumour has it that secret tunnels and hidden walls were built into the property to be used by smugglers sneaking in their illegal wares via the sheltered cove.

Whatever You Do, Don’t
Trust the weather forecast during this transitional season when you’re planning your office workwear. ‘It might look sunny outside but resist the urge to become overexcited prematurely,’ warns stylist Alice Hare. ‘Offices often have freezing air conditioning and there will still be a chill in the air on the commute for a good couple of months.’ To help ward off the lingering chill, she suggests having a few lightweight layers in your office capsule wardrobe.
