Staying In
Watch Southgate’s Manosphere Doc
If Louis Theroux’s recent documentary Manosphere left you feeling a little hopeless, we’re hoping to find some light in Gareth Southgate: Changing the Game for Young Men, a new hour-long documentary from the former England men’s manager. Airing tonight on BBC One exactly a week after the final episode of Dear England, we’re told this documentary will explore solutions to help this struggling generation of young men and boys thrive. ‘This is the next step in my purpose to get young men and boys moving in the right direction rather than falling behind,’ Southgate tells the BBC. Rather than philosophising about the mental health crisis, Southgate has travelled the UK to speak with young men directly, asking: What’s really going on in your life? Why do you feel so lost? What is making you so uncertain about the future? ‘I wanted them to speak openly and without judgement about what’s really going on in their lives. Through these conversations, I’ve gained a better understanding of the challenges they face,’ Southgate says. Here’s everything to know before you tune in. Tonight at 9pm on BBC One. Catch up on BBC iPlayer.
Going Out
Enjoy A Summer Afternoon Tea
Time for tea? Always. Corinthia London has just unveiled a brand new afternoon tea menu, inspired by the British summer season. Nestled in the hotel’s Crystal Moon Lounge, diners will be backdropped by an intricate floral installation by FLOWERBX, and surrounded by a curated display of hats and headpieces by Lock & Co. Hatters – which celebrates its 350th anniversary this year. Tracing centuries of British millinery across the nation’s most beloved summer events, London’s oldest hat shop is perfectly placed to kick off the season. The menu, meanwhile, celebrates the season’s culinary heroes: smoked salmon brioche and coronation chicken sandwiches, fresh scones smothered in elderflower and lemon curd, and a huge selection of pastries from the dessert trolley. This season’s selection of sweet treats include Highgrove honey puff pastry, Kentish raspberry cheesecake, dark chocolate and salted caramel choux, and a tempting apricot Bakewell tart. Available until the end of August, corinthia.com
Property Of The Day
This Somerset home was designed by John Pinch the Elder, the same man behind Babington House (now part of the Soho House collection). A former rectory, the Grade II* listed property has been sensitively restored by the current owners to preserve its sash windows, shutters, fireplaces and timber floors.

Whatever You Do, Don’t
Forget to give your potted plants a really good soak if you’re going away for the weekend. ‘A balcony garden full of pots left for a weekend without water can look disastrous on your return,’ Rosebie Morton, founder of The Real Flower Company, tells us. ‘If practical, submerge them in a large container of water until you see no air bubbles, indicating saturation.’ Find more tips on keeping your garden in good shape during hot weather here.
