The Preventative Hair Loss Treatments Worth Trying
Hair loss is considered one of the biggest concerns in men’s grooming, causing anxiety and having a very negative impact on personal confidence. But is it just a part of your DNA, or just something that happens to men as they age?
Androgenetic alopecia, or male pattern baldness, is the most common type of hair loss experienced by men. This is usually evident from a receding hairline or a thinning or loss of hair at the crown.
But, the big question is: can it be treated or prevented? The simple answer is, to a certain extent, yes. But the biggest way to tackle hair loss is by preventing it in the first place.
Research suggests that it is harder to regrow hair lost through MPB than it is to prevent your hair from thinning in the first place, so early adoption of a treatment would be the best course of action to take if you see your hairline begin to recede.
But what’s worth trying? Let’s find out.

Brand Spotlight: Dr. LEVY Switzerland
Swiss cosmeceutical brand Dr. LEVY Switzerland® is produced in Switzerland, and designed for all skin types, genders and ages. As the fruit of Dr. Levy’s 15 years of work in stem cell research, it is based on the 2012 Nobel Prize of Medicine research, which proved that our stem cells are like time machines; they can safely regain their youthful powers if they are correctly, and vigorously, reactivated. And in harnessing this research, the brand brings medical-like results through a simple, yet luxurious Swiss skincare experience.
Ask The Expert: Julian Levy
Julien Levy, CEO of Dr. LEVY Switzerland, answers all of our questions surrounding men’s skincare and wellness…
Should men have a skincare routine?
Absolutely! Men’s skin has fundamentally the same needs as women, from anti-ageing to anti-pigmentation, so they should therefore have a skincare routine to address any concerns their skin may be facing.
What are men looking for when it comes to skincare?
This is very important: men need to see the benefits of their skincare. Now and later. They have no patience for complicated mechanisms or tortuous routines.
Men’s skincare is a much bigger market these days – why do you think that is?
The men’s skincare market is evolving as we see a major cultural shift – I would even say a generational break – around the traditional notions of masculinity, with men increasingly recognising the importance of self-care and the benefits of skincare. Millennials led the change, with Gen Z now amplifying it. It has also influenced some Gen Xers, and we are now seeing men at 30 or 40 that look so much fresher, younger and appear more dynamic than they were at a younger age.
Any advice you’d give to a man starting on their skincare journey?
I would suggest starting with a simple routine. Go with one new product at a time – first with a serum – and use it when convenient (morning, evening, or both). Then, as you see results, add another one slowly until you feel you have reached a skincare routine that works for you.
