Travel - November 2025 - OWO

Dear Reader,

Silly season has landed, but you can rest assured that in between all of the Christmas shopping and festive drinks, I am squeezing in every ounce of solace I can muster. And in these pockets I find myself plotting all of the ways I will change in the New Year.

The fresh start glimmering on the horizon is a folly I always fall for, featuring as it does shiny new commitments to wellness, strange new hobbies I copy off others, and new habits that promise to really change my life, yes really this time. As philosopher Nietzsche wrote in 1882: ‘Already the new habit waits at the door, and similarly also my belief – indestructible fool and sage that I am! – that this new habit will be the right one, the ultimate right one.’

It’s buoying to see some things never change. My current obsession is creatine and hopefully it lasts, but one thing I know I’ll never tire of is wellness breaks. I’ve gathered eight I think you should know about below, starting with the opulent Raffles London at The OWO.

Enjoy,

Wellness Escapes To Book Now For 2026

1. Raffles London at The OWO

Christmas might not be here just yet but I’m already planning on elevating my wellbeing in the New Year and Raffles London at The OWO is my first stop. Offering thoughtful experiences designed to support a refreshed and balanced start to 2026, we will be able to enjoy the newly released Gold Membership at The Guerlain Spa. This tailored programme includes a complimentary overnight stay, personal coaching, nutrition consultations, spa treatments, grooming services and so much more, ensuring a comprehensive and bespoke approach to fitness and self-care. (To sign up, enquire here.)

For those seeking an escape during the first months of the year, the hotel is also extending its Stay Longer On Us offer, where guests booking two nights receive a complimentary third night. Bliss.

2. Food Retreat

Walking after eating was a surprisingly popular wellness trend this time last year, and this new retreat takes it to the next level. Based at the newly opened Shakti Prana, the new ‘Flavours of the Himalaya, Reimagined by Merlin’ retreat will bring together Osip’s Merlin Labron-Johnson with Shakti Himalaya’s pioneering walking journeys through India’s remote mountain region. Across nine days, walkers will explore remote trails, villages and local temples, forage for wild herbs and mountain greens, cook traditional dishes and dine on Merlin’s multi-course creations inspired by the Himalayas. 15-24 and 19-28 March 2026, shaktihimalaya.com

3. Digital Detox

Speaking of wellness trends that stand the test of time, digital detoxing gains steam every year (the alias in 2026 is ‘ping minimalism’) as more and more of us crave separation from our phones and social media. Counting 60 cabins by the end of the year, no matter where you are in the UK, there’s probably an Unplugged cabin within reach, challenging tech-addicted Brits to three-days offline and off-grid. unplugged.rest

4. Nature Immersion

What’s better than waking to the sound of birdsong? As we unplug, the craving for nature immersion comes in tandem, and away from the UK I’ve got my eye on Eha, a new-for-2026 11-room nature resort hidden on one of Europe’s quietest islands, Hiiumaa in Estonia. Blending ancestral healing traditions with evidence-based practices, guests will enjoy a nourishing five-night retreat as standard, themed around one of five seasons: summer, spring, autumn, winter, and springrise. eharetreat.com

5. Contrast Therapy

The standout wellness trend of 2025? Saunas, and with them the sweat-shiver endurance sport of contrast therapy. Community saunas have been popping up all over London, while the more enticingly named wild saunas are now a common sight beside coasts and lakes across the nation. Topping my wishlist is Glen Dye, the 15,000 acre Scottish estate on the banks of the River Dye dotted with design-led cabins and cottages and a sauna with ice baths waiting right outside.

6. Trippy Retreats

Medically supervised psychedelic therapy is on the rise. Pop star Lorde says it cured her crippling stage fright, while Amy Griffin’s book The Tell is certainly a conversation starter. Fancy dabbling in more delicate surroundings? Beckley Retreats in the Netherlands (where psilocybin therapy is legal) offers a five-day taster with two doses and 1:1 coaching as well as yoga, meditation, breathwork and more. beckleyretreats.com

7. The C&TH 2025 Wellbeing Guide

In case you missed it, the 2025 Country & Town House wellbeing guide was a celebration of the very best spas Europe. Whether you are looking for a quick fix on home shores or a holistic week-long transformation in the Alps, we’ve got the scoop right here.

8. Balance Retreats By C&TH

I’d be remiss not to indulge in a self-plug: C&TH launched its very own wellness retreats earlier this autumn at Lime Wood in the New Forest. And while longevity has become a buzzword in the wellness world, we wanted to highlight that living a long, healthy life also means truly enjoying that time. Find out what it was like here and keep your eyes peeled for 2026 dates, coming soon to countryandtownhouse.com
