Wellness - Travel - March 2025

Dear Reader,
Wellness trends come and go – from the bizarre and fleeting ‘morning shed’ to the latest TikTok fad, colour walking – but wellness travel is here to stay.
Looking to hit reset on home shores? From uplifting vinyasa flows to pampering spas, nature immersion to meditative moments, PoB Hotels has you covered. Its new Nurture Your Soul collection spans the British Isles, from countryside havens to invigorating coastal escapes. It’s all encapsulated in the beautifully printed pages of this year’s edition of The Handle, PoB Hotels’ annual book and online magazine (read it here, or request your free physical copy).
Here are eight wellness travel ideas for 2025.
Enjoy,

Spotlight On: Wellness Travel
1. Retreat With PoB Hotels
A staycation is always a good idea – especially if you’re visiting one of PoB Hotels’ members. The Nurture Your Soul collection is full of pampering spas to discover, with seasonal wellness breaks spanning woodland wellness at Ayrshire’s Glenapp Castle to a picturesque cycling escape at Hambleton Hall in Rutland to an active break at Calcot’s fitness sanctuary in the Cotswolds. Perhaps best of all, PoB Hotels has also partnered with some of the most sought-after, high-profile wellness experts to host a series of exclusive retreats this year. Next month (27–28 April), guests can find some calm at Bath’s idyllic Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa, or why not learn something new on Bailiffscourt’s stargazing retreat (24–25 April), which blends mindfulness with the sparkling sky?

2. Unwind Under The Radar
Nestled on Portugal’s Alentejo coast, Comporta has been creeping onto the lips of discerning travellers of late, says Mariella Tandy. Unlike its bustling cousins in the Algarve, the area has stayed under the radar thanks to strict codes of development – but visitors are increasingly being seduced by its unique blend of laid-back luxury and raw natural beauty. This is where you come to unwind, reconnect with nature and embrace a slower pace of life. Situated in the beach village of Carvalhal, Quinta da Comporta is a wellness-focused resort that epitomises the vibe. Rejuvenate at the spa, practise yoga and savour organic food while enjoying the serene views over rice fields. Find Mariella’s guide to Comporta here.
3. Wellness Sanctuary In The City
The capital is full of grand hotels, but few can boast the views of Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London. Perched on the edge of central London’s largest park, this five-star sanctuary is home to a whole host of swanky bedrooms masterminded by interior designer Joyce Wang, as well as a world-class spa hidden beneath the all-marble, all-chandelier lobby. Its expert therapists pamper with any of a range of indulgent treatments, whether it’s a head-to-toe scrub, a relaxing facial, or the world’s very best pedicure…
4. Blowout Wellness-Moon
If you’re looking for a blow-the-budget honeymoon with a wellness slant, this is it. While Thai beaches remain well-trodden, and Bali’s Eat, Pray, Love-style spiritual retreats well ticked, the Philippines remains blissfully under the radar on the South East Asia circuit, says Jemima Sissons. Putting the emerald northern archipelago on the map, private-island resort Lagen Island in El Nido, Palawan, re-emerges after an extensive renovation. Framed by lush forest and a sparkling lagoon, it offers a two-level spa, a vastly expanded beach area, a new dive centre and a biodiversity discovery centre where guests can learn about the island ecosystem before seeking out reef sharks and sea turtles in secluded bays. Find 11 more honeymoon ideas here.
5. North Yorkshire Nourishment
Good food and wellness are at the core of Saltmoore, North Yorkshire’s new bastion of wellness – and it’s all done with gusto. This is not a leaf of lettuce and one-radish-on-your-plate type of place, says Margaret Hussey. It’s somewhere to savour and take your time over meals, which you have earned after hiking on the nearby North York Moors or swimming in the North Sea at Sandsend, just 10 minutes walk away. Here’s what to expect.
6. Lessons Worth Travelling For
Taking place on Fahid Island in the sandy epicentre of the UAE capital, the new three-day Kayan Wellness Festival, created to celebrate holistic wellbeing, encompassed a star-studded, science-based line up of speakers covering workshops and immersive experiences comprising wellness, science, music and food. Kayan meaning ‘essence’ in Arabic, it was pure joy, says Fee Drummond. Here are the key takeaways.
7. Wellness On Rails
Last year’s news of the Britannic Explorer revitalised our love for British trains. And, set to take to the tracks in July 2025, another tidbit has us very excited: there will be a spa on board. Masterminded by Wildsmith, expect nature-based treatments inspired by the landscapes zooming past your windows. Here’s how to hop aboard.
8. Swiss Chalet Summer
Enjoying The White Lotus season 3? We’ve always thought a season set in an intimate chalet would be intriguing… Get a taste of that dream at Richard Branson’s Swiss family chalet this summer, where the billionaire’s inaugural wellness retreat will take over the nine opulent bedrooms. It’s The Lodge’s first ever retreat (as well as that of Virgin Limited Edition), blending wellness (yoga, pilates, spa time, mindfulness) with nature immersion (hiking, biking, swimming, even paragliding). Here’s what to expect – plus how to clinch a spot.
