What's On 12 Jan
Dear Reader,
I’m having REM rebound. Having ditched the fizz for the annual sober start to the year, my dreams are far more intense/lucid/real-feeling – and sometimes full-on frightening – than usual. This is perfectly normal, I’m pleased to hear, as alcohol impacts the duration of REM sleep, so when it comes back, it does so with a vengeance, dragging possible recent suppressed anxieties with it. They should calm down within a couple of weeks. Despite this, throwing off the shackles of alcohol is a boon. I’ve scraped back a lot of time – and a lot of energy, my eyes are less dragged down into their sockets, and I can put money saved into little treats, like a massage. I love this New Year reset – and it couldn’t have come soon enough.
Have a great week.

Help Los Angeles
Our earth is on red alert – literally. If the Los Angeles fires (along with the multiple climate disasters besetting us all – just look at our own floods), can’t bring the climate to the top of the agenda, what can? If you want to do something immediately, consider donating to California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund.

Are Saunas The New Pubs?
The more I read about the benefit of saunas, the more I wish I had better access to one (if only I could afford one of these British made beauties from Out of the Valley). But community saunas are popping up all over London. A hot trend that I hope takes off.
