Dear Reader,

I have prepper tendencies. Don’t laugh. Under my stairs are cans of macaroni and cheese, dried milk and an extra large box of flapjacks for the energy, along with a windup radio, torch and spare batteries. Long may that box remain forever closed, but you never know and I’d like to think I could sit out the apocalypse munching on flapjacks longer than most. Where I’d really like to be though is a cool new place to stay in Dorset called Louma. It’s really tucked away, so you’d avoid the rest of any remaining humanity quite easily, and it grows everything, including grapes for its own wine. It’s got views to die for and I reckon I could walk there in a week from West London. Of course, now you can just drive or get the train. I do advise it – it’s a wonderful tonic for the soul – apocalypse or not.

The Last Night Of The Festival

These past few days of Chelsea Arts Festival have been incredible, but tonight sees Malala and a suitably starry roll call of talent, including Sir Lenny Henry and Sheila Hancock, come to stage at Cadogan Hall to celebrate 30 years of the Women’s Prize for Fiction. Tickets are still available. Come down!

TV Binging

As autumn’s arrived, I’ve ramped up my TV viewing and there are some brilliant British based dramas out now. I’ve binged Coldwater, The Girlfriend and The Guest over the past two weeks. Be warned though, violence runs through each of them.
