What's On 23 Feb

Dear Reader,

I finally moved house on Friday, 155 days after having our offer accepted. For months, you hear nothing, you idly fantasise about the Swedish sauna you’re going to install at end of the garden (a side hustle), the Hastens bed you’d install if you had £70k to drop, the Petra Palumbo tiles in the bathroom and the new Pluck Kitchen. Then, all of a sudden, you’re praying that the huge deposit you paid made it to the solicitor’s correct account (I’ve heard terrible stories of people ‘losing’ their deposits to fraudsters) and you’re sitting surrounded by boxes and praying for your buyers to exchange before 5.30pm on a Friday night. It’s a rollercoaster – and everyone I speak to has a horror story to share. There has to be a better way. But I’ve done it. And I don’t have to do it again for years; and while I’ll probably never have a Hastens bed, I can start to dream about the Edward Bulmer paint colour that will soon cover up the utterly vile feature wall in my new bedroom. Let the creative juices flow…

Have a great week.
