What's On 4 May

Dear Reader,

Net zero’s getting a bad rap in the newsfeeds, but anyone with half a brain knows that unless we cut our emissions, we’re toast. And yes, in the scheme of things the UK is a relatively small emitter, but doesn’t leadership and moral duty stand for anything anymore – or is it just a race to the bottom (literally)? The thing is though, the story’s got to change – from one of deprivation and fear to one of abundance and joy. People rarely follow the doomsayer – we need a different voice – or voices – that can cut through and across the many divides. In the meantime, we can all do something that does feel like we’re contributing – and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Some of us at C&TH went further and got our Carbon Literacy Project accreditation recently – a full day’s training and a commitment to tweaking our lifestyles both personally and professionally. Doing it alone may seem pointless, but if everyone were to do something, it would cause a ripple effect – and change would be unstoppable.

Have a great week.

WHAT’S ON MY MIND THIS WEEK

How Happy Are You?

I’m a big fan of the New York Times and had fun doing this quiz – and learning that happiness is based on both hedonic (finding pleasure and avoiding pain) and eudaemonic (having meaning and purpose) joy. How are you faring?
