What's On 9 November 2025

Dear Reader,

You think you might be good at something – until you get an expert in. I always fancied I’d find deciding what colours, wallpapers and fabrics work for a house would be a cinch. I reckon I’ve got a reasonably good eye. But I get distracted, sent down design rabbit holes and while I’d die to have a drawing room that looks like Lily Allen’s in her New York brownstone (now for sale), I don’t have her wall heights. It was a massive relief then when interiors advisor and paint colour consultant, Katherina Saunders, paid a visit. In four hugely enjoyable hours, we had the kitchen licked with Little Greene paints (pink, green, grey – then move a cupboard here, build one more there) and transformed a tiny box room into a glossy ‘Hopper’ green library with floor-to-ceiling shelves and the wall turned into an arch… Teenage den? A dark feather patterned wallpaper with ‘Livid’ coloured paintwork, a massive TV and a burnt orange velvet sofa, which moves into a sunlight-coloured sitting room for grownups (with a chocolate brown twist). None of this has moved beyond the mood board stage but boy, I’m excited to get started.

Have a great week,

WHAT’S EXCITING ME THIS WEEK

The Celebrity Traitors (c) BBC/Studio Lambert/Euan Cherry

Doing It Traitors Style

The Traitors final was TV gold. I even cried (just out of exasperation with the two least charismatic contenders getting it just so so wrong), but really I was lusting over Claudia’s wardrobe. Here’s your chance to shop the looks – but don’t be surprised if you start seeing kilts, oversized cashmere and chunky boots everywhere.

Where To Eat Truffle In Town

‘Tis the season not only to be merry but also to sniff out the best truffle dishes. From Piedmont-white shavings over lobster risotto at The Twenty Two to turn-your-own truffle into dinner at Bocca di Lupo, we get stuck into this seasonal treat.

The £6,000 Christmas Hamper (Yes, Really)

As we learn that Elon Musk is the first person in the world to be offered a trillion dollar pay packet (what sickness is this?), a £6,000 Fortnum & Mason hamper wouldn’t cause so much as a slightly raised eyebrow. Want to see what this gets you? We get unwrapping.

FIVE THINGS NOT TO MISS

Our biggest issue of the year is hot off the press. The C&TH Nov/Dec issue is filled with everything you need for festive giving and revelry alongside the wellbeing hacks to keep you sane (and glowing) amid the Christmas mayhem.

Nothing ushers in the season quite like wandering through twinkling installations, hands wrapped around something mulled and delicious. From woodland trails to grand estates bathed in electric colour, Britain’s winter light festivals are back.

On the hunt for festive partywear? British luxury label Jane Atelier opens the doors on its end-of-year sample sale this week, with prices starting from just £30. 12 – 14 November

Beyond the sparkling lights, you’ll also find London is now home to a forest of magnificent Christmas trees – many designed by the city’s brightest fashion creatives. Here’s where to spot them.

Salacious new BBC drama Wild Cherry hits screens this week, showcasing the toxic secrets hiding beneath the veneer of a picture-perfect town – with rivalrous parents and wayward teenage daughters leading equally tempestuous social lives. Starts 15 November
