What's On 14 April
Dear Reader,
There’s nothing like the deep satisfaction of landing a word, preferably with a ‘z’, ‘q’ or ‘x’ in it on the red triple word score on a Scrabble board. It can be a literal game-changer and that ‘gotcha’ moment is always worth it. I grew up playing board games; some I loved: Boggle, Buccaneer, Othello, Ludo; others I hated, namely Monopoly and Risk – too aggressive, too often an excuse for my older brother to trounce me. But that was all part of the fun. Apparently though, Scrabble has just launched a ‘more inclusive’ double sided board, removing from one side any of the scoring mechanisms for those who find the game intimidating. No score? What a bore! Words, for once, fail me.
Have a great week.
WHAT’S EXCITING ME THIS WEEK
More Traitors? Yes, Please
More fringe, more fashion, more Claudia, more Scottish skulduggery. What’s not to love? The news that Traitors is potentially committed to six more series is bringing me much future joy.
French Fancy
We wondered what this cookery legend would do after closing the doors to Le Gavroche earlier this year. Well, we don’t have to wait any longer. Michel Roux is helming a new restaurant – Chez Roux – at the Langham. Reserve your table now.
Serenity + Energy = Surenne
The hottest new wellness place in town opening soon for high-fee paying members is Surenne, part of the new Emory Hotel in Belgravia (which also features London’s first abc kitchens restaurant from Jean-Georges Vongerichten). I had a sneak peek and, from the pool to the Tracey Anderson studio, to the longevity doctors and the Rosemary Ferguson café, it really is the bee’s knees.
